Woah oh We're Halfway There Woah Oh

Well Bloggers,
I can't believe it I'm a little over half way down with my student teaching.  Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday I was panicking over the start of this adventure and my first meeting with Coach. Shortly after my first encounters of the student teaching kind my fears were rested aside I continued to dive head first into the cut throat world of public education.  Now that I am well over half down, I spend my days with my head frantically spinning when I think of what lies ahead in my life journey.  With applications and requirements for Grad school, registration for next semester, and no idea where my life is going, I'm more than a little stressed out. And since I become incredibly depressed when I think about leaving my students at the beginning of December, I have decided to place a lot of faith into God's hands and sit back, relax, and enjoy the last half of student teaching.  I have learned so many lessons that I never dreamed of learning. I have seen poverty and desperation on a level that I never even realized existed in the US, I have seen children overcome hurdles and obstacles that no one let alone a teenager should face.  I have seen children make leaps and bounds of progress solely because for the first time someone  has been paying attention to them. I have also learned about homecomings, and bad first dates, celebrated college acceptances and 16th Birthdays.  I have watched the kids eyes light up when I tell them the whole class passed hte exam.  The Good most certainly outweighs the bad and I honestly wouldn't trade it for anything. So while I am not sure where my life is heading or where I will be in the future, for now I know that I am happy and excited to be an educator.
I pose this questions to you my blog reading friends, are you genuinely, deep down excited about what you will be doing each day with your major?
Peace and Blessings,
Kjo

On my Soap Box

Hello Blogland,
If I were an actual avid blogger instead just trying to kee my friends updated on my life I would be linking up for Truthful Tuesday, which is kind of what this because it is one of my favorite parts of blogland.  However, today I will be jumping on top of my soap box and not getting down for many many paragraphs.

Today's SoapBox is about acting like the 21-22 year old adults my age demographic is.  I'm not making a blast at badgerland in fact I'm completely in reference to my So. Ill companions.  I had a large extended group of girls that I would have considered my group, crew, posse, whatever you want to call it throughout most of high school.  I'm not saying that we were all best friends or sister or that we all really even liked each other that much but we were considred a group of girls. You know what I'm talking about we were all in massive parties before dances and powder puff and large group photos before dances that were later captiond besties for life and friends til the end. And I'm not gonna lie some of these girls are insanely pretty. But we were different than every other group of "those girls" we had one thing that made us different than all of those who came before and probably those who would come after us.  What is that you might ask? WE WERE and still ARE NICE.  We are nice girls.  We were never rude to someones face, never openly thought we were better than someone, never disrespectful or bitchy. In fact we were friendly and open about hanging out with people, talking to people, and in general pretty much were walking rays of sunshine about 80% of the time. However, we were always made to be the bad guys. Whatever the past is in the past right? Wrong.
Fast forward to 2011. When any of my friends or myself run into people from high school they normally ignore us as if we arent there. It would be one thing if we had personally victimized them however we did. In fact they personally vicitimize us on a daily basis in high school and now.
So if you happen to stumble upon this blog and think it might be about you... well it probably is. So fyi grow up and say hello to the people you have known practically your whole life. We don't bite and we never have so get over yourself.

"I'm not saying I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will." — Tupac Shakur

Hello Bloggers!
First off go to the follow website total awesomeness. Okay not that you have read this article, some of you might be a little confused. Well, neverfear here is the explanation. I am directly responsible for those beautiful children making it to secondary school.  How is it possible that me, a silly girl, living in the Heart of So. Ill or currently in Badgerland responsible for those precious children going to secondary school? Well the answer is kind of complicated.  In 2006, my home Key Club raised a bunch of money for an organization called Building Tomorrow and so did the rest of #keyclubnation. (sidenote: there are a handful of Key Clubs that totally dominate at life examples would be: Murphysboro High School, R.J. Reynolds High School, E.D. White Catholic High School, Brother Martin Catholic High School, a specific club in Arizona I am drawing a mind blank on, Mount-St.Chantal something that closed down in VA, and a baller club in Minnestoa that I am also drawing a blank on). Fast forward to a year or so later each of these clubs was charged with finding a represenative to go to Uganda to lay the foundation of the school.  After quite some debate and stressing, I was chosen to represent my club.  I was sort of what you might have called Key Club obsessed. So today as I was checking my email at Student Teaching I recieved this email and immediately my eyes filled with tears of joy and excitement.  Everything we worked so hard for both monetarily and physically is paying off. My instinctive nature to help people and my love of education and educating others are working hand-in-hand to change the world.  Literally. change. the. world. IT IS MIND BOGGLING that I was a part of something so awesome.  All of this could only be the work of the AMAZING God that I love so deeply.  He has given me the most blessed life and the most wonderfully opportunities that have changed my life. I have been given so many opportunties to go exciting places and do exciting things but that is not what I consider to be my reward. My reward is reading articles like this, knowing that something I did with my own hands is bettering someone elses life. It is a feeling I cannot even describe.
Peace and Blessings,
Kjo

ps sorry I got a little preachy but I believe that my religious calling in life is to do everything in my power to help someone else change their life.

ANNIVERSARY OF 21

Happy Wednesday Y'all!
ITs BIBER FEVER's 22 birthday!!! woop woop getting old and adult like wooop woooop.
Today since I am soooo very far away from the birthday celebration I thought I'd let y'all know how much and why I love Bieber Fever.

Biebs and I have not always been friends in fact we were sort of sworn enemies for quite sometime although we began sharing a best friend in common, the lovely Gum Drop and occasionally the wonderful Sugar Muffin. So summer going into Junior Year of College Biebs starting spending a lot of time with Gum Drop Karli Cakes and I. Well I thought she was hilarious and I really enjoyed hanging out with her. So now lets fastforward to this immediate past summer. Biebs and I formed a coalition of singlehood and a love of $ Night and Sunset.  Essentially we discovered that our mission objectives were the same and therefore became instabestfriends.  perfect right? Then she went to Germany and my social life halted the entire time.  Well now we are seperate and it sucks but I know our ldr will survive!!! so here is a list of wonderful things that I love about Biebs and that I hope she enjoys on her bday.
1. Great Dancer in fact someone dip her and buy her a drank.
2. Hilarious... same sense of humor... perfection.
3. White Chocolate Carmel Cookie Chiller
4. Loves Mexican food.
5. Is equally obsessed with her teasing comb as I am.
6. An Only child.
7. The Bottom Row.
8.party party alll day errrrry day.
9. fashionista
10. we are always on the same page. ALWAYS

soo HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIEBER FEVER..... enjoy celebrating the first anniversary of your 21st birthday!
LOOOOOOVE
Peace and Blessings,
Kjo

FALL... FALL...FALL... I want Fall

Well blogland,
I am not positive if I mentioned it but the location of Badgerland is on the Gulfcoast.  So this weekend I did not get to enjoy a fun festive beachy weekend like my little heart had desired... I instead weathered (hope everyone found that funny) Tropical Storm Lee... Now as you can imagine I don't much like Tropical Storms but Lee was a huge pain in my butt because his rain was the perfect sleeping rain and messed up my whole schedule and productivity chart. However, when I left at the crack of dawn this morning aka 6:45am It was like 60 degrees outside and screamed FALL FALL FALL to me.  However, being that this is the Gulfcoast I know that next week it will probably be back in the 100s.  It is so unfortunate because fall is one of my favorite seasons.  Here is a list of why I love fall so much:
1) Hoodies
2)bonfires
3)smores
4)Pumpkin Spice Lattes
5)hayrides
6) HALLOWEEN
7) apple cider
8)Fall decorations
9) football
10)awesomeness
11)leaves changing
12) carving pumpkins
Essentially fall is my fall is my favorite season and I am totally devastated that I missing fall. Oh well its soon to be the last fall I miss... *get the ******* excited Bieber Fever bahahahah wear purple and skinny jeans- Jenna Marbles... that is HOW EXCITED I AM

An Apple A Day is the Perfect Gift for Me

Hello Blogland,
I know, I know that you shouldn't beat a dead horse but I just want to SHOUT FROM THE ROOFTOPS I LOVE MY JOB...(if you know what movie that is from well you are really cool) I love teaching and even though I'm a student teacher I'm obsessed.  Now there are several things that are sucky about student teaching
a) never being on campus makes me feel like an outcast
b) I am literally making negative dollars between gas and lunch costs
c) I don't get to exactly do things my way
but other than that I love it.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE LOVE LOVE my department and get to work with hilariously awesome people everyday. That is all.
everyone have a wonderfullllllllll labor day weekend.
Peace and Blessings,
Kjo
PS don't forget to get good use of your whites this weekend they have to go back in the closet til Easter unless its intiation or new member pinning time :)

Stories from The Classroom

Hello Blog World its Kjo,
I apologize that I have been hiding in the dark and scary world known as my mind these past few weeks... okay maybe months.  But I promise that I didn't loose my funny in fact I probably got funnier.  So let's see I have moved into the apt (fabulous life), my best friend is back in the apt, and well our roommates are absolutely HYSTERICAL and I love them.  They shall from now on be called Suzy Homemaker and World Traveler(but I'll introduce them some more as the semester continues) Right now I would like to focus on what my daily life as a student teacher consists of.

A Typical Day in the life of Miss Kjo

5:30am alarm goes off
5:45am get up shower
6:00am probably just now actually getting out of bed
6:01am turn coffee on proceed to drink entire pot before I leave
6:02am shower probably almost fall over due to exhaustion
6:15am dress,make-up,hair.... (secret attempt to not look a hot mess)
6:30am finish packing my lunch --  make more coffee for the road
6:45am leave for school
7:00am arrive to school while being greeted by such musical gems like Gangsters Paradise or Black and Gold(they obviously appreciate all eras of rap)
my first period is off so I listen to the hilarity of the teachers lounge and pray to God that one day I will have as hilarious an outlook on life as some of the people I have met.
8:45 head to second period this is where I begin to realize that only hilarious things can come from the day when asked such questions as "Miss Kjo where upstairs at" well dear you had  to walk down the stairs to get to our level sooooooooooo you tell me.
10:20 pyschology block filled with hilarious explanations regarding Koko the gorilla and Gorillas in the Mist
11:10 Academic class get asked question that makes sense but will probably be interupted by shennigans going on in the hallway. like one of the many fights or what we call chronic tumbleweave
lunch.... great hilarious catch up time with my Nicagruan partner in crime
1:15 freshman. enough said. its equvialent to the animal attack scene in Mean Girls
2:45 schools out. I will now spend the next 6 hours obsessing over how awesome my day was to anyone who will listen including my bedroom walls... kind of pathetic but I really love it that much.

more stories  to come but now you know my daily routine

Peace and Blessings,
Kjo
